I think I’m a bit slow to the whole washi tape idea….but it is now my latest obsession 🙂 They don’t really call it washi tape in Australia, it’s mostly called decorative tape. So if like me you don’t know what it is, washi tape is like masking tape with decorative, cute patterns and designs on it.
There are many places to buy washi tape, from specialist craft stores to Target and K-Mart. I keep an eye out wherever I go and just pick up a few at a time. I have also found there is definitely a difference in the quality of the tape; the cheap ones I have purchased don’t tend to come off the roll very good and will sometimes rip. I do spend a bit more on my tapes now because of that.
Here are some of the ways I use washi tape.
Life planner
I can spend many an hour decorating my life planner with washi tape. And this week I got my new Erin Condren Life Planner….so now even more fun!
Little notes
I’ve started sending special little notes in my little girl’s lunchbox. Washi tape adds some cute decoration.
Magnets
I’ve got so many boring magnets I get in the mail or if a tradesman comes to do some work. So I now washi tape over them.
Storage
I have many storage containers and shelves and they’re pretty boring, not any more 🙂
Pencils
A lead pencil no longer needs to be boring when there is washi tape around.
Mini whiteboards
I also like to add a bit of bling to our mini whiteboards.
Dry erase board
I’ve just used an old picture frame to make this dry erase board. I have this one sitting on my desk with motivational quotes.
Do you have any good ideas for using washi tape? I’d love to hear about them.
I love washi tape so much! (I have a BIG problem with having sooooo many of them!) Love these ideas!
Hey Stef,
I know, I feel like I’ve missed out all those years by not knowing about it ;-). My office is certainly looking more cheery since I’ve become acquainted with the washi tape! I’m glad you love the ideas.
