If you’ve had a few teaching resources on your wish list lately, then this Sunday is your lucky day. Teachers pay Teachers  is having a BIG sale and I’m joining in too.

For this Sunday 3rd February ONLY, I’ll be discounting everything in my store by 20%. TpT is also kicking in for this sale, and on check out you will receive a further 10% discount. Just remember to use the coupon code: SUPER.

I’ve also just finished a new item for my store, just in time for the sale.

Natural Disasters: Report Writing

Facebook

This resource includes a series of 6 lessons that will assist your students to find information about natural disasters and then use the information to write a report. The lessons are aimed at Grades 4 – 7.

If you’ve been following the recent flooding disaster in Queensland, Australia and have been talking about this with your students, then this pack would be appropriate to support your teaching on the topic.

Specifically, the objectives of the lessons are for your students to:

  • Understand that reports are used to describe;
  • Use information texts to collect facts about natural disasters; and
  • Write a report to describe a natural disaster.

Your students will finish the series of lessons by acting as reporters for the ‘National Geographic Magazine’. With this in mind, the students are required to design a section about a chosen natural disaster to be included in a magazine. On completion of the task students are required to reflect on their learning. They use an assessment sheet to self-assess and peer-assess the magazine sections.

I had great fun doing these lessons with my students and the magazine sections turned out really well. I hope you enjoy them with your students as well.

This resource will be discounted by 20% on Sunday, and also remember to use the coupon code to get a further 10% off at checkout. You can buy this item here 🙂
